The Menzelinsky district is known for being the residence of the poet and Hero of the Soviet Union Musa Cälil who lived there during the Great Patriotic War.

The cathedral mosque was built in 1910 and is now designated as an object of cultural heritage of regional (republican) significance.

A bust of the hero was installed in the Menzelinsky Park named after Cälil with the participation of the poet's daughter in 2017[34][35]
