The team participates in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), having joined following the 2023–2024 academic school year.
The team plays its home games at Martone-Mejail Field located on the college's campus.
[6] During their time as an NCAA Division II program, Merrimack found significant success as a member of the Northeast-10 Conference, including winning the 1994 NCAA Division II softball championship over Humboldt State.
[9] Since transitioning to Division I, the team has yet to finish a season with a winning record.
[10] The team has also won six NE-10 Coach of the Year awards, winning in 1986, 1988, and 1992 with Bob DeGregorio, 1993 with Michelle Myslinski, and in 2009 and 2017 with Elaine Schwager.
