Michael Toch (born 1946) is professor of medieval history at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
His family returned to Austria in 1948 where Toch received his basic education.
From 1965 to 1969 he completed his military service, and from 1969 to 1975 he studied history, philosophy and sociology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He completed his PhD thesis on "The Middle Classes of Nuremberg in the 15th Century" at Erlangen University in Germany which was awarded in 1978.
He lectured in history at the Hebrew University before becoming Alexander von Humboldt-Research Fellow at Monumenta Germaniae Historica, Munich.
