Michelle Lynn Oyen is an American materials scientist who is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
Oyen was an undergraduate student in materials science at Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor's and master's degree.
[1] After earning her doctorate, she joined the University of Virginia, where she spent a year as a research scientist in the Center for Applied Biomechanics.
[citation needed] In 2007, Oyen moved to the United Kingdom and joined Sidney Sussex College at the University of Cambridge, where she worked as a lecturer in biological materials.
Oyen investigated how extreme weather events such as hurricanes or cyclones can trigger premature fatal membrane rupture and preterm birth.
