Mike Sturla

P. Michael Sturla (born February 18, 1956) is an American politician serving as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

For most of his tenure in the legislature, he has been the only Democrat representing a significant portion of Lancaster County at the state or federal level.

In August 2011, Sturla stirred controversy with written remarks he made about proposed drilling in the Marcellus Shale regions of Pennsylvania.

He wrote that increased drilling would lead to the "spread of sexually transmitted disease amongst the womenfolk.

"[2] Sturla apologized for his "insensitive" remarks, but defended himself by saying that his comments were based on a report to the Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission.
