[2] It is located on Mill Creek 15 miles (24 km) south of Litchfield,[4] at an elevation of 4222 feet (1287 m).
The settlement began when Judson Dakin and J.C. Wemple opened a mill at the site in 1861.
[5] According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.3 square miles (13.7 km2), of which over 99% is land.
There were 81 housing units at an average density of 15.3 per square mile (5.9/km2), of which 48 (69.6%) were owner-occupied, and 21 (30.4%) were occupied by renters.
