Ministry of Finance & National Economy (Bahrain)

[1] MOFNE assures the progress of public investment in compliance with the financial policies of the kingdom.

The current Minister of Finance & National Economy is Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, who was appointed on 4 December 2018.

After Bahrain’s independence, the State administrative structure was reorganized pursuant to Amiri Decree No.

(6) of 1976 [8] was issued appointing Mr. Ibrahim Abdul-Karim Mohamed as Minister of Finance and National Economy.

(26) of 1975, restructuring the Ministry of Finance and National Economy to include the following Directorates: Amiri Decree No.

(14) of 1979 was issued establishing the Directorate of Central Stores at the Ministry of Finance and National Economy, followed by the Decree No.

(8) of 1999 was issued appointing Mr. Abdullah Hassan Saif as Minister of Finance and National Economy.

(35) of 2003 [11] was issued, whereby a General Directorate of Free Trade Zones was established at the Customs and Ports Affairs of the Ministry of Finance and National Economy.

(53) of 2008 [16] was issued, whereby the position of Undersecretary for Ports Affairs was established in the Ministry of Finance, then Decree No.

(70) of 2012 was subsequently issued on 21 October 2008 according to which the Undersecretary for Ports Affairs is to report to the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

(9) of 2007 on the reorganization of the Ministry of Finance, whereby the position of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Revenue Development was established, and two new Directorates were established in the Ministry of Finance to report to the Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Revenue Development, namely: On 30 June 2010, Decree No.

(9) of 2007 on the reorganization of the Ministry of Finance, including the establishment of the State Property Affairs Directorate, answerable to the Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Information.
