Mkhitarashen (Armenian: Մխիթարաշեն) or Mukhtar (Azerbaijani: Muxtar) is a village located in the Khojaly District of Azerbaijan, in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

[3] The village was known as Mkhitarikend (Armenian: Մխիթարիքենդ; Azerbaijani: Mxitarikənd; Russian: Мхитарикенд) during the Soviet period.

[4] During the Soviet period, the village was part of the Askeran District of the Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast.
