On June 28, 2022, Sportsnet announced that it would be canceling Hometown Hockey after 8 years on the air, and that it would be replaced with a new brand for its Monday night broadcasts of the NHL.

[2][3] On April 25, 2024, the NHL and Rogers Communications announced that Amazon had signed a two-year deal to produce and exclusively stream NHL game telecasts on Monday nights in Canada on Amazon Prime Video under the Prime Monday Night Hockey brand.
The studio team will be led by hosts Adnan Virk and Andi Petrillo, analyst Blake Bolden, and contributor Mark Messier.
