She studied English and German literature at the University of Hamburg during which she worked as a junior in the editorial office of the magazine Sport-Bild.
In 2004 she became one of the anchors of the Sportschau (Bundesliga magazine on ARD) hosting the Saturday afternoon football match highlights.
In January 2009 Lierhaus stopped appearing on TV after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage due to an aneurysm after which she was put into a coma for almost four months.
[4] Lierhaus returned to television as presenter of the charitable, non-profit lottery of German broadcaster ARD in 2011.
[7] In October 2013, the lottery announced that Lierhaus's contract would not be renewed after the end of the same year.
