Montlouis-sur-Loire (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃lwi syʁ lwaʁ] ⓘ, literally Montlouis on Loire) is a commune in the Indre-et-Loire department in central France.
It was mentioned in the 6th century as vicus montis Laudiacensis by Gregory of Tours.
[3] Since 1987, the city hosts the month of September Jazz Festival in Touraine.
To organize this event, an association was created in 1990 so that the festival can take its autonomy vis-à-vis the municipality.
