Montpelier, Iowa

Montpelier is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Muscatine County, Iowa, United States.

[2] The community is part of the Muscatine Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The first settlers of Muscatine County were natives of Vermont, and they chose the name after the capital of that state, Montpelier.

[6] Located along Iowa Highway 22, Montpelier lies on the Mississippi River 13 miles (21 km) east of (upriver from) the city of Muscatine, the county seat of Muscatine County.

[3] According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Montpelier CDP has an area of 0.49 square miles (1.3 km2), all land.
