The cost of the project is expected to ₹1.7 lakh crore (US$20 billion).
[2][1] The proposed Mumbai-Nagpur High-Speed Rail Corridor is planned to run along the Mumbai–Nagpur Expressway (Samruddhi Mahamarg), national highways, greenfield areas, and may pass through arterial roads of the intermediate city road network for high-speed rail connectivity between different cities along the corridor.
The route will have 15 stations: Mumbai BKC, Thane, Shahpur, Ghoti, Nashik, Shirdi, Aurangabad, Jalna, Mehkar, Malegaon Jahangir, Karanja Lad, Pulagon, Wardha, Khapri and Ajni (Nagpur).
The line's official fare structure, prices and rules are expected to be finalized closer to the start of commercial operations.
