[2] Murombedzi is located about 110 kilometres (68 mi), by road, west of Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe and largest city in that country.

Banket, another small town, lies about 25 kilometres (16 mi), southeast of Chinhoyi on the road to Harare.

Farming of both crops and animals, is the main economic activity in the areas surrounding the town.

All the three major cellphone operators namely Telecel, Econet and NetOne have base stations in the town.

It is linked to Harare via Norton with a tarred road and to the south and north by the [permanent dead link‍] Chinhoyi-Chegutu Highway.
