[5] It is 3.25 miles (5.23 km) to the southeast of Northwest Point where the Headridge Hill rises to a height of 335 metres (1,099 ft).
At 3.5 miles (5.6 km) in width, the most narrow point of Christmas Island is a line drawn north–south through Murray Hill.
[8] It is conjectured to be an ancient atoll, with lime formation dominating the terrain, with phosphates of alumina and iron recorded on the hills.
