Musashimurayama, Tokyo

Saitama Prefecture Tokyo Metropolis Musashimurayama has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall.

[2] Per Japanese census data,[3] the population of Musashimurayama increased rapidly in the postwar decades but the rate of growth has slowed considerably in recent years.

Musashimurayama has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral city council of 20 members.

In terms of national politics, the city is part of Tokyo 20th district of the lower house of the Diet of Japan.

The area remains largely agricultural, notably horticulture and the growing of tea, although a significant portion of the population commutes to downtown Tokyo.

Musashimurayama was the location of a Nissan automobile assembly plant, originally opened in 1962 by the Prince Motor Company.
