Ammons attended Vicksburgh High School where he averaged 21.8 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a senior and led the Gators to the 6A state championship game.
[3] After averaging 9.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.3 blocks per game, Ammons parted ways with Feni Industries on July 1, 2015.
[4] On November 1, 2015, Ammons was acquired by the Idaho Stampede of the NBA Development League following a successful tryout with the team.
[7] On January 23, 2016, he returned to Idaho,[8] making his debut that night in a 108–101 loss to the Texas Legends, recording two points and four rebounds in seven minutes.
[10] That day, he made his debut for the Zonkeys in a 92–87 loss to the Garra Cañera de Navolato, recording nine points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 15 minutes off the bench.
