Myrtle Edwards (politician)

Myrtle Edwards (1894 – August 18, 1969) was an American politician and civil activist from Seattle, Washington.

[2] Edwards graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois Chicago where she became a voice teacher at the American Conservatory of Music.

[3] After moving to Seattle during World War II with her husband Harlan H. Edwards and her two children, she graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration.

[2] Edwards was named the Council President on March 31, 1969, replacing mayor-elect Floyd C. Miller.

[3] Edwards died on August 18, 1969, from injuries sustained in a car crash on Interstate 90 near Kellogg, Idaho.
