Nargis Nehan

Nargis Nehan (Dari: نرگس نهان; born in Kabul, Afghanistan, 1981[1]) is an Afghan former politician who served as the acting Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Industries.

[2] Like many Afghans of her generation, Nehan was forced to flee Afghanistan as a child (at the age of 12[3]) to escape her country's decades of warfare.

[4] Nehan, who holds a master's degree in business administration,[1] was working with the Norwegian Refugee Council following the United States' invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

After that invasion toppled Afghanistan's Taliban regime, the Norwegian aid organization assigned her to return to Kabul to open its office there.

[8][1] Nehan is the founder[9] of EQUALITY for Peace and Democracy,[10][9] an organization whose stated mission is "to empower women and youth to become active decision-makers, by electing their leaders and representatives through voting, monitoring state institutions performance and holding them accountable for public policies and resources, and also becoming agents of change in their communities and daily lives.
