Nathaniel Craver

Ivan Skorobogatov;[1] February 4, 2002 – August 25, 2009)[2] was a Russian-born boy adopted by a married U.S. couple whose death in their custody sparked a public outcry.

[7] On the morning of August 20, 2009, Michael Craver arrived at Geisinger Holy Spirit with an unresponsive Nathaniel, claiming that he discovered the boy in that state in his bed.

[5][6] An emergency room nurse who treated Nathaniel commented that the boy's head felt "like a wet sponge" and that he was covered in bruises at different stages of healing.

[6] The boy was transferred to Hershey Medical Center where attempts were made in vain to intervene by relieving the pressure on his brain, but he failed to regain consciousness.

[7][8] Nathaniel's cause of death was determined to be complications of traumatic brain injury, with severe failure to thrive due to nutrient deprivation as a contributing factor.
