Centre des Archives Nationales (Lebanon)

As a private institution dedicated to preserving Lebanon’s cultural and historical heritage, the archive holds an extensive range of documents, including unique Ottoman records that are not widely accessible to the public.

Right before the recent economic crisis, a major digitization initiative was launched under the leadership of Dr. Alexander Massabki, the vice president of the archive.

It collaborates with public administrations, municipalities, and other entities to ensure proper maintenance and long-term deposit of archival materials.

It is dedicated to identifying sources of Lebanese heritage, documenting relevant materials, and promoting public awareness of the nation’s cultural legacy.

Many employees have either ceased working or now operate on a two-day per week schedule, affecting both routine functions and modernization efforts.
