He then attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University where he graduated in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics.

Shen was given full autonomy and led Sequoia China to make successful investment in various companies such as Alibaba, ByteDance, Meituan, JD.com, Pinduoduo, Qihoo 360, DJI, Vipshop.

[8][10] Shen is married to an investment banker and has two daughters who attended school in Hong Kong.
