Its administrative centre was the village of Nes, located just outside the town of Flekkefjord.
In 1942, a part of Nes with 377 inhabitants was moved to the neighboring town of Flekkefjord.
[4] In the 1960s, there were major municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee.
[6] The municipal council (Herredsstyre) of Nes was made up of representatives that were elected to four year terms.
