Sehmatal is a municipality in the district of Erzgebirgskreis, in Saxony, Germany, which was created in 1999 through the union of Neudorf, Cranzahl and Sehma.
The town borders to Annaberg-Buchholz in the north, in the east is Königswalde and Bärenstein, Oberwiesenthal is south and Crottendorf in the west.
Neudorf is the home town of Olympic gold medalist Viola Bauer.
Sehmatal's sister city in the United States is Running Springs, California.
From 1952 to 1990, the constituent localities of Sehmatal (Neudorf, Cranzahl and Sehma) were part of the Bezirk Karl-Marx-Stadt of East Germany.
