New Synagogue (Tarnów)

The synagogue was designed by Władysław Ekielski in the Moorish Revival style, commenced in 1865 and completed in 1908, the lack of funds delayed timely construction.

The synagogue served as a house of prayer until World War II when it was set on fire by the Nazis in November 1939.

[2] The only remnant of the synagogue, a pillar, was preserved as an element of the monument in the Jewish cemetery in Tarnów.

In September 1993, the Committee for the Protection of Monuments of Jewish Culture from Tarnów placed a plaque on a building at the corner of Nowa and Waryńskiego Streets.

In November 1939 it was burned down by the Germans.” Media related to New Synagogue in Tarnów at Wikimedia Commons
