From 2003 to 2013, the district included all or parts of Broome, Delaware, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, and Ulster counties.
It included the cities of Binghamton, Ithaca, Kingston, Middletown, Newburgh and Poughkeepsie.
The district stretched to include parts of the Finger Lakes region, the Catskill Mountains, and the Hudson Valley.
From 1833 to 1843, two seats were apportioned, elected at-large on a general ticket.
