Nicolai Sinai

Nicolai Sinai (born 1976) is a German scholar of Qur'anic studies and Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Oxford.

[1] Sinai studied Arabic and philosophy at the University of Leipzig, the Free University of Berlin and the University of Cairo.

He received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin in 2007.

[1] Since 2011, Sinai has taught Islamic studies at the University of Oxford, successively as lecturer, associate professor and professor.

[1] His research focuses on historical-critical Quran studies, Islamic Quran reception, philosophy and theology in the Islamic cultural area.
