Nigel Yates FRHistS (1944–2009) was Professor of Ecclesiastical History at the University of Wales, Lampeter.
[1] He received his primary education at Belmont Abbey School and later attended the University of Hull.
In 2000, he became senior research fellow at the University of Wales, Lampeter, and was appointed Professor of Ecclesiastical History in 2005.
Yates died on 15 January 2009 and was survived by his wife Paula, four children, two grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
She was formerly a Lib-Dem councillor, leader of Maidstone Borough Council, and later Dean of Non-Residential Studies at St Padarn's Institute, Cardiff.
