Nilufar Yasmin

[8][9] Her father, Lutfar Rahman, was a former provincial civil servant of British India and her mother Begum Mouluda Khatun from Murshidabad was a vocal artist who took music lessons from musician Ustad Kader Baksh.

[citation needed] Yasmin completed her bachelor's and master's in sociology from the University of Dhaka in 1968 and 1970 respectively.

She took Nazrul song lessons from Sheikh Lutfar Rahman and Sudhin Das.

[9] Nilufar Yasmin sang classical, Nazrul Sangeet, and Kirtan,[1] Atulprasad, Dwijendralal and Rajanikanta, even Puratoni, Tappa, and Thungri.

[10] Yasmin was appointed as a lecturer in the department of dramatic arts and music at the University of Dhaka in 1995.
