Nishikamo District

Nishikamo (西加茂郡, Nishikamo-gun) was a district located in Nishimikawa Region in central Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

As of 2004 (the last data available), the district had an estimated population of 16,703 with a density of 43.84 persons per km2.

With the organization of municipalities on October 1, 1889, Nishikamo District was divided into 30 villages.

On March 1, 1951, Koromo gained city status and on April 1, 1953, the village of Sanage gained town status, merging with two neighboring villages on March 1, 1955.

On August 5, 2003, Miyoshi rejected plans to merge with the city of Toyota.
