It is the church for the Nordlien parish which is part of the Toten prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar.
[1][2] Planning for a new church at Nordlia began around the turn of the 20th century.
It is a long church with an asymmetrically placed tower on the northeast side of the nave.
There is a church porch on the west end that is the same width as the nave.
The building was originally constructed as an annex chapel when it was consecrated in 1901.
