Normanby, Ryedale

Normanby is a village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England.

In the old days Normanby had 14 alehouses and was a major stopping point due to its location halfway between Teesside and Humberside.

The bridge to the south of the village was built in the mid 18th century[2] and is narrow, so in recent years it has been the scene of many accidents.

At the dissolution of the monasteries, Henry VIII granted the manor to William Romesden of Longley and Richard Vavasour of Ripon.

[3] St Andrew's Church is a Grade II* listed building; it dates back to the 12th century, with medieval pillars and nave arches surviving.
