The song was released in June 1989 as the lead single from their second studio album, These Here Are Crazy Times!

The following year, the song was released in the United States and reached number eight on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart that July.

Pete Smith produced, but the band were dissatisfied with his mixing of the song.
