Opal J. Moore (born 1953) is an African-American poet, short-story author, and professor.
[1] Moore received a BFA from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1974, an MA in fine arts from the University of Iowa School of Art in 1981, and an MFA from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 1982.
[2] She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in 1993 and taught African-American literature at the University of Mainz in Germany.

[8] Moore is a member of The Wintergreen Women Writers Collective.
