The film stars Vijayakumar and Sripriya, with Manorama, V. S. Raghavan, Y. G. Mahendran and Major Sundarrajan in supporting roles.

Paalooti Valartha Kili was based on the stage play Raja Parambarai by Komal Swaminathan.
