Pacific Northwest Bell

It was a local exchange carrier for the Bell System, the AT&T Corporation-controlled network of companies, providing telecommunications services in Oregon, Washington, and northern Idaho.

Weeks later the company moved into its own building at the corner of Second Avenue and Cherry Street in Seattle, WA.

Assorted independent telephone companies set up competitive business throughout Oregon and Washington.

Under the leadership of J. P. Morgan, the nation's most powerful banker, the Bell companies around the country began to buy out their major competitors.

Headquartered in San Francisco, the Bell operating company served customers in California, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and northern Idaho.

[5][6] The Washington Public Service Commission approved the formation of Pacific Northwest Bell on June 5, with the separation occurring at midnight on July 1.
