It is then revealed that the team's mission is to identify and neutralize "neurological aberrants" ("neuros") – human mutants with supernormal mental powers.

During the pilot episode, Vasco discovers that she has superhuman abilities – supernormal regenerative powers bordering on invulnerability.

The TV series received a 22-episode production order after the 2005 Painkiller Jane TV-movie yielded positive results.
