Iovino earned a Master of Arts in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College in 1993.
[4] Following Tim Murphy's resignation from the United States House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district in 2017, Iovino sought to become the Democratic Party nominee in the special election to succeed him.
