Pamela Smock

Pamela Jane Smock (born September 29, 1961) is an American sociologist and demographer.

She is a research professor in the University of Michigan's Population Studies Center,[1] of which she was the director from 2010 to 2013.

[1][4] She is known for her research on issues related to the family,[5] such as cohabitation, which she has been studying for over two decades.

After three years exploring potential career directions, she returned to the University of Chicago for a master's degree in the Social Sciences.

The following year, Smock went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison for doctoral studies in sociology and demography, supported by a traineeship from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development.
