Paragonah (/ˌpærəˈɡuːnə/ PARR-ə-GOO-nə) is a town in Iron County, Utah, United States.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.64 square miles (1.66 km2), all land.
[4] Paragonah was settled by residents from the nearby town of Parowan in the early 1850s.
Parowan residents found meadows next to Red Creek that provided ideal locations for farming.
There are conflicting sources as to the name's precise meaning, but it is of Southern Paiute origin and apparently is a reference to the red color of the water found in the area.
