[13] Constructed at a cost of $500,000 (equivalent to $10.9 million in 2023), nearly half of which was covered by a grant from the Public Works Administration, the school was designed to handle an enrollment of 650 to as many as 800, and opened to students in September 1940.

The team won all five playoff games by shutout and set a state record by giving up eight runs the entire season.

[58] In 2008, the boys' ice hockey team coached by Gary Steele captured their first Nardello Cup, 3-2 against River Dell High School.
