It preceded the current legislature of Seychelles, the National Assembly.
[1] After being formed in 1979, Assembly elections were held in the same year from 23 to 26 June.
[1] The government ministers came to the legislature to answer questions by the districts’ representatives and pass bills.

[1] The Assembly had a separate secretariat, was chaired by a chairperson, and was composed of representatives of their specific electoral district.
