Pertti Torstila

Pertti Juhani Torstila (born 13 February 1946 in Jyväskylän maalaiskunta)[1] has had a long career in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland made by an official and a diplomat.

[2] In May 2015, Torstila was promoted to the post of Honorary Doctor of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Budapest (Eötvös Lorand).

[1] In 1970 Torstila graduated with a Bachelor of Political Science from the University of Helsinki and started the same year as an assistant at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Between 1972 and 1973 Torstila prepared a European Conference on Security and Cooperation (OSCE), whose summit was held in Helsinki in 1975.

From 2002 to 2006, he was the Ambassador of Finland to Stockholm before moving to the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in May 2006.
