He later attended the University of South Florida where he earned a master's degree in physical education.
In 1975, he attended a tryout camp held by the expansion Hartford Bicentennials of the North American Soccer League.
However, Chandler did not remain with the team, but signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies as a free agent for the 1978 season.

He has served as a high school physical education teacher, athletic director and soccer, basketball and baseball coach.
