Peter Kidd

Peter Barrington Kidd SC (born 4 October 1965) is an Australian jurist.

[3] In 2018–2019, he presided over the trial of Cardinal George Pell whom he sentenced to six years in jail.

[4] In April 2020 the High Court of Australia quashed that verdict because there was "a significant possibility that an innocent person has been convicted because the evidence did not establish guilt to the requisite standard of proof".

[6] Kidd was admitted to practice in 1990,[7] and signed the Victoria Bar Roll in 1995.

[6] Kidd joined Victoria's Crown Prosecutors' Chambers in January 2009 after returning to Australia, and in November 2011 he was appointed Senior Counsel.
