Peter Kopelman

A physician, educator and international research worker, Kopelman was principal of St George's, University of London[1] (2008–15),[2] having previously been vice-principal of Queen Mary, University of London, and deputy warden of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (2001–06), and Dean of the Faculty of Health, University of East Anglia (2006–08).

[3] The elder son of Harry Kopelman[4] and Joan née Knowlman, he was educated at Felsted School before studying medicine at St George's Hospital Medical School.

Kopelman chaired the Clinical Examining Board of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and the NHIR Academic Careers Panel.

[citation needed] Kopelman’s major research interest was in the field of obesity, in particular endocrine aspects and possible genetic determinants.

He was a member of the Chief Medical Officer’s Working Group on physical activity.
