Peter Semneby

Peter Semneby (born 29 June 1959) is a Swedish diplomat who currently serves as Sweden's Special Envoy for the Conflict in Yemen.

[2][3] He has worked at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1986 and served at the embassies in Moscow, Kyiv and Bonn.

In this capacity, Semneby played a central role in the UN-led negotiations between the parties of the Yemeni civil war in December 2018, which were hosted by Sweden in the city of Rimbo.

[6] The negotiations resulted in the so-called Stockholm Agreement, through which the parties agreed to a prisoner exchange and a ceasefire in the port city of Hodeidah.

[6] In addition to his native Swedish, Semneby speaks English, French, German and Russian.
