[1] Wales made his debut for Sussex in the 1948 Minor Counties Championship against Surrey.

[2] Wales made a single first-class appearance for Sussex against Hampshire at Manor Sports Ground, Worthing in 1951.

[3] In Hampshire's first-innings, Wales took the wickets of Jimmy Gray, Leo Harrison and Derek Shackleton for the cost of 12 runs from nine overs.

He opened the batting in Sussex's first-innings, scoring 29 runs before being bowled by Charles Knott.

In Hampshire's second-innings, he took the wickets of Alan Rayment and Richard Carty for the cost of just one run from four overs.
