Plasmodium tropiduri

As in all Plasmodium species, P. tropiduri has both vertebrate and insect hosts.

The vertebrate hosts for this parasite are reptiles.

It had been previous discovered by Carlos Chagas but not formally described.

This complex was divided into a number of subspecies by Telford in 1979.

This species complex is found in Brazil, Costa Rica, the Guianas, Panama and Venezuela.
