[1][2] Desai also served as honorary director of Centre for Parliamentarians on Population and Development in New Delhi.

Desai was Rapporteur General at the United Nations world population conference in Bucharest in 1974.

He additionally served as a fellow at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
